A SCOTTISH GEORGE III SET OF THREE SILVER TEA CADDIES, Edinburgh 1772, maker's mark of Alexander Gardiner, in a mahogany case, the set comprising a pair of rectangular bombé caddies and a matching square bombé caddy, decorated all over with repousse chased and engraved asymmetrical scroll, acanthus leaf and shell motifs and raised on scroll feet, the pull-off lids with flat domed tops, contained in a plush lined compartmented carrying case, with cast brass handle to lid and raised on paw feet, with lock and key (c.24ozs in all). 30.5 x 14 x 20cm high
