PRINCE OF EGYPT, THE (1998) - "When You Believe" Early Draft An early draft of the song "When You Believe" for the production of Brenda Chapman, Simon Wells and Steve Hickner's animated musical The Prince of Egypt. This song is the film's closing number and became a commercially successful single performed by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, winning Best Original Song at the 71st Academy Awards. The lyrics are handwritten in pencil on a page taken from a notepad and feature amendments and notes on the reverse side. The draft displays composer Stephen Schwartz's signature and the date "23 June 2000" written in purple pen at the bottom. The page exhibits grease stains and creased corners.
