A Japanese silk brocade priest's robe, kesa, 18th/19th century, sewn from cut patches of silk ground brocade with four-clawed dragon roundels amongst cloud scrolls in coloured and gilt threads, framed by long border bands with the same fabric and design, with four applied squares with pale pink ground woven with the dragons and clouds in a smaller scale at the corners, the reserve lined with dark purple silk, 204 x 110cm. Provenance: Estate of the late designer Anthony Powell (1935 – 2021).cf.
