A MUGHAL STYLE IRON CEREMONIAL SHIELD, 17TH-18TH CENTURY
India. Of circular form with four bosses, decorated with a very fine damascened floral motif in gilt and silver, with heart shaped cartouches at the center, the bosses with lobed rims, the wide borders applied with a brass floral decoration. The interior padded with red silk lining and two handles.
Provenance
: From a private estate in the Rhineland, Germany.
Condition
: Very good condition with minor old wear and traces of usage mostly to the inside, the silk with small tears and loose threads.
